What You'll Need
- Administrator or Standard user access to Tenable.io
- An active Tenable.io subscription
- ~3 minutes to complete setup
- Your Clariti account with adapter management permissions
Get Your Credentials
Log in to Tenable.io at cloud.tenable.com. Click your account name in the top-right corner and go to Settings > My Account > API Keys.
Click Generate to create a new API key pair. Tenable.io provides two values: an Access Key and a Secret Key. Copy both — they are only displayed once.
The API keys inherit the permissions of the user account that generated them. An Administrator account provides full access to all scan data and assets.
Enter Credentials in Clariti

Verify Connection
Click Test Connection in Clariti. A successful connection returns a green checkmark. The first data sync typically completes within a few minutes.
Troubleshooting
- 401 Unauthorized — Verify both the Access Key and Secret Key are entered correctly with no trailing spaces. Regenerate keys if they have been rotated.
- 403 Forbidden — Ensure the user account has sufficient permissions to access vulnerability and asset data. Standard or Administrator roles work best.
- Timeout — Large Tenable.io instances with many assets may take longer for initial sync. Clariti retries automatically.
