Tenable Nessus

Vulnerability Management

The Tenable Nessus adapter connects to your local or self-hosted Nessus scanner to pull vulnerability scan results and host inventory into Clariti for centralized vulnerability management visibility.

What Clariti Collects

What You'll Need

  • Administrator access to the Nessus web interface
  • Nessus Professional, Expert, or Essentials with API access
  • The Nessus server hostname or IP accessible from Clariti
  • ~3 minutes to complete setup
  • Your Clariti account with adapter management permissions

Get Your Credentials

Log in to the Nessus web interface (typically at https://<host>:8834). Click on your username in the top-right and go to My Account or Settings > API Keys.

Click Generate to create API keys. Nessus provides an Access Key and a Secret Key. Copy both values — they are only shown once during generation.

If you are running Nessus in a local or private network, ensure the Nessus server is accessible from the internet or configure a secure tunnel so Clariti can reach it.

Verify Connection

Click Test Connection in Clariti. A successful connection returns a green checkmark. The first data sync typically completes within a few minutes.

Troubleshooting

  • 401 Unauthorized — API keys may have been regenerated. Create a new key pair in the Nessus console and update both values in Clariti.
  • 403 Forbidden — Ensure the user account that generated the keys has administrator access to scan data and host information.
  • Timeout — Verify the Nessus server is network-reachable from Clariti. Self-hosted scanners behind NAT/firewalls may need port forwarding or a tunnel. Clariti retries automatically.
